Cascade Comix Monthly was a monthly fanzine which dealt exclusively with underground comix - one of the very few that underground comix ever had. It was published in a 5.5" x 8.5" format by Artie Romero and Everyman Studios. The print runs of this monthly fanzine were very small - ranging between just 400 and 1600 copies per issue. Highly recommended.
The Comics Journal is a monthly magazine which deals exclusively with ...comics. As their sub-title states, "The Magazine of News & Criticism." Most of the issues we offer feature either an extensive article on underground comix or an in-depth interview with one of the artists of underground comix. Highly recommended.
High Times Magazine has been chronicling the counterculture for thirty years. First published as a quarterly in 1974, High Times is still being published and is now a monthly magazine with its continued emphasis on marijuana use and cultivation and the fight for cannabis legalization. Not yet up on this website, we hope to add our inventory of early issues shortly.
Mineshaft is a small independent art magazine started in 1999 by Everett Rand and Gioia Palmieri. It features underground comics, sketchbook drawings, letters, poetry, photos & more. It is published 2 to 3 times a year in very small print runs. Many of the underground "oldtimers" show up in Mineshaft - Robert Crumb, Kim Deitch, Simon Deitch, Frank Stack, and Robert Armstrong are regular contributors and show up in just about every issue. Other recent contributors include Jay Lynch, Spain Rodriguez, Bill Griffith, Aline Kominsky-Crumb, Sophie Crumb, and Justin Green. Mineshaft is Highly Recommended!
