Gilbert Shelton’s Wonder Wart-Hog Original Artwork
Shelton’s work just doesn’t come up for sale very often.
And this rare piece has been published and is from the story "Wonder WartHog Meets the Zymotic Zoo-Keeper" which first appeared in Wonder Wart-Hog Magazine # 2 (Millar Publishing Company, 1968). This is page 8 from that story and shows Philbert Desanex turning into Wonder Wart Hog. Story may also be the first appearance of Oat Willie (though I’m not 100% on that... anyone know?). The story was later reprinted in Wonder Wart-Hog, Hog of Steel Number 1, which was printed by the Rip Off Press in 1995.
This piece is in excellent condition. The board is approximately 20" x 15". The artwork itself measures approximately 13" x 10". It is matted but not framed.
A vintage, one-of-a-kind, published, very hard to find original artwork by Gilbert Shelton.
